I’m an NRA member, so I thought I knew the answer to this one. If you’re in fear of your life during a home invasion robbery, you are entitled to defend yourself. My American Rifleman magazine that comes every month is full of stories of folks who have done so without legal problems. Yet today I was told you’d go to jail for shooting even an armed intruder in CA who had invaded your home. Someone please settle the argument for me. I hope this place hasn’t turned into Russia.

I just wanted clarification. Someone told me that they can use a taser if someone is resisting arrest despite being held on the ground by 4 or 5 officers. That just does not seem like appropriate use of deadly force to me.
The families of 80 people that are killed by tasers every year in the USA might call them deadly force even if the police department does not…

The “guns” are worn on opposite sides of the belt, one might think that an officer intending to use their Taser would draw it with their NON-shooting hand, and then MAKE CERTAIN that they pulled the correct weapon. One wouldn’t want to mistakenly shoot or even kill someone. Seems that these police aren’t given enough training, this becomes apparent if even one death has occurred in this manner. Or maybe its that the ones who mistakenly shot and/or killed unarmed people just didn’t care enough to double check…
Yeah I realize that police are put in certain situations involving split second decisions, BUT, shouldn’t that be taken into account before and during their training? Part of the point I am trying to make is that IF there was adequate training, the Taser related mistaken deaths wouldnt be happening. I mean we are talking about using one of two instruments, one to subdue and one to terminate, mixing them up in the heat of the moment is UNACCEPTABLE!
trooper, I live in Oakland, I was not neccessarily referring to the BART shooting, but rather “Taser” shootings in general. I was shocked to see the regularity this type of incident occurs. I can see your point of view and somewhat agree with your take on what might have taken place, but in my opinion, a Security force such a the BART “Police” has no business being armed with handguns. This is not the first time unarmed people were killed by BART cops. BART has no business having a “Police” force. It is similar to Muni or AC Transit having a Police Force. More armed and improperly trained people out there means an increased chance of these incidents happening again and again. When do we stop building up the Police State? When do we stop fighting “Wars” on ideas? Terror is not a threat, it is a feeling. A feeling of fear, and that fear has been used and manipulated to drive this country towards a totalitarian state. Funny how all of the past “terrorists” have been linked to the US Gov.
JB Name me one actual terrorist attack that took place on US soil, even US soil abroad. 9-11 was an inside job, I know way too much to believe any of the Official Story BULLSH!T, besides Bin Laden was/IS a CIA Operative, no theories about that. Pearl Harbor was allowed to happen, The Gulf of Tonkin “incident” never actuallt happened, The U.S.S. Cole was an inside job, The Marine Barracks was as well, The Oklahoma City Gov Building was blamed on patsy’s McVeigh and Nicholls, the first WTC attack in the subbasement with the van full of explosives was PAID for by the FBI, a former FBI Regional Director ADMITTED IT go do some research and stop seeing theories where there are concrete conspiracies!

I don’t want to carry pepper spray b/c it may blind me or my children instead. I would much rather have a taser.

What is very effective against an attacker other than a gun.

Okay, let’s say that, during high school, my friend made some extra money by stealing guns from people (through home invasion robberies, car break-ins, and armed street robberies where you get the drop on the concealed carrier with your friend) and selling those guns to gang members for cash.

If some of those stolen guns are traced back to him like eight years later, are there any legal consequences, or has the statute tolled?

After watching Bounty Hunter Girls in Miami Florida, Can anybody in Florida run the streets wearing and using a Taser Gun? What happens if you shoot someone? Can you go to jail when you use them and do lots of people have & use them in Florida? Do criminals’ taser their victims?

(In the U.S) I’m young and I’ve been thinking about having my Mother and Sister take a self-defense course and then have them carry a non-lethal weapon (for self defense) in case anything were to happen.

What are some self defense weapons other then tasers and stun guns? and how much would a self defense course cost?
