Found a new blog with a great title, Old Enough To Know Better. How true as I approach 1/2 a century.

Their article entitled Self-Defense made me remember to remind you that you have a right to self defense. You have a right not to give your purse or wallet to a punk, unless they are sticking a gun in your head. If you have any chance at all, you have a right to stop them, and you gotta have that mindset when you hit the streets.

The streets are brutal, and I can remember when I was picking up my U-Haul to leave Phoenix after my mother passed away. I figured I would ride by bike to the place down the road, and drive the truck back, load up, and get out before I was baked to a crisp.

As I was about to toss the bike in the back, a couple deranged punks tried to grab it out of my hands. I was wrestling with them, and shoving the into some bushes and a wall with the bike and if I only would have had a pepper spray or tiny stun gun in my pocket, I could have ended this quickly and drove away.

About a minute later, a car pulls up, and 4-6 Latino brawlers run out and race toward me. I dropped the bike & ran into the convenience store where I picked up the truck, and had him call 911. I had no idea if they had guns, or what.

Since a car wreck in 84 that I had fluid in a lung, I am short of breath, as all our Defend Thyself YouTube Videos show, and I was gasping & panting. Luckily, they took the bike & left. I loaded up the truck & left for San Diego; Hasta La Vista Phoenix. Though I cringe saying that because I really despise the actor turned pretend Governor, turned Socialist.

We use to have a saying called Metropophobobia, or a pervasive fear of Downtown Phoenix. How true!

Anyway, at least make sure you have a pepper spray on your keychain. You never know when or where you might need it, though I guarantee the time will come up when you need it and if you don’t have one, you are S.O.L.

I just read about a women in Washington state that was mauled almost to death by two roving pitbulls. They entered in the back of the house in one of those doggy doors. Apparently they have been roaming their neighborhood for some time and the owners lived several housed down from this poor women.
