The Taser M-18 shoots out 2 electrified darts that are attached to 15 feet of wire. Then, 50,000 shocking volts travels down the wires, and actually over-rides the central nervous system of the attacker, providing incredible takedown power.

The TASER M-18 is a self-defense electronic control device. Electronic Control Devices (ECDs) use propelled wires or actual contact to conduct energy that will affect the sensory and motor functions of the attackers nervous system. The TASER M-18 uses a replaceable cartridge, containing compressed nitrogen, to literally "shoot" two small probes that are attached to the TASER M-18 by wires that are 15 feet (4.5 meters). For the next five seconds, the TASER M-18 transmits electrical pulses along the wires and into the body of the punk, affecting his sensory and motor functions of the peripheral nervous system. In other words, it scrambles his ability to do anything except quiver like a bowl of jelly in pain.

The energy can penetrate up to two cumulative inches of clothing. However, you have to hit your target! If you miss, it won't work. That's why I suggest you get the one with the laser. Even the slightest miscalculation on where you are shooting is multiplied the further out the attacker is. The farther away he is, the easier he is to miss. Get the laser.

In reality, the Taser M-18 is merely a low voltage stun gun; 1/2 of the voltage of our lowest voltage stun gun, the Stun Master 100,000 volt stun gun. The reason it is more effective, is that the Taser M-18 will apply the voltage in five second bursts each time you pull the trigger.

In the event you miss, you can actually use the Taser M-18 as a stun gun! Just hold the end of the device against the attacker and pull the trigger. There are two metal ends that will conduct the electricity through the gun, into the punk, putting him down. Unfortunately, the new Taser C2 does not appear to have this capability, though I will check on that and report back.

NEW Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD) Technology
There are two categories of energy weapons: Stun weapons and EMD weapons.
